Ahh Gardening!

Okay So I've been wanting to redo the landscaping around a tree we have out front and this was the week.

So I've been out several times for several hour stretches working on this project- you know removing all the old rocks, the old fabric, laying more dirt, adding plants, spliting, rearranging, and removing existing plants, laying new fabric, laying old rocks and then new rocks on top.  Anyway, yesterday I was out working, working, working, I saw my neighbor across the street, we talked.  I said hi to my next door neighbors, waved to the postman, breifly chatted with another neighbor driving by, talked to my backyard neighbor, even talked with Kamiah's neighbor friends who were over...and then I go inside...Hello I looked like a punk rocker!  I had had my hair in a front pouf thing and like I said I was working around a tree... so dig out rocks (bump my head into the tree), dig out plants (snag my hair on the tree), stomp the dirt down (bump my head again) etc.etc. (And I was out for 3 hours!!)  Why did no one tell me my hair was sticking up like crazy (I mean crazy!) .  Kamiah?  Wesley?  Even Scott????  I guess I'll have to start shining my shovel and double check my reflection every now and then for wild and crazy tree hair!

BYU Divine Comedy

I posted awhile ago some BYU Divine Comedy music videos (see Jan. 22 post)... here are some newer ones... HILARIOUS!!

The first one made me laugh pretty good! (and for those of you who have been "lucky" enough to experience that know what that's like!)  :)

That Was Easy

Well, this week Wesley decided that he wanted to not use training wheels (we intended to take care of that last summer, but the burden of the basement took over).  So this week Wesley went and found Scott's wrench and just took them off by himself!  And then learned!  I helped balance a little by holding the seat and then he was off, and was riding the rest of the day!  Scott came home and said, "I didn't even get to help him learn!"  Nope!  I didn't do much either!  I'll have to post some pics later.

Trick That Picky Eater!

We have started a new tradition at our house the kids love.  Whenever I make a new meal, I set out a pair of green and red cards at everyone's place.  We use them to vote.  When you decide whether you like it or not, you place the appropriate color under your cup!  Green= "go ahead and make this again!"  Red="stop making this meal!"  Anyway, the kids know that just because they vote red doesn't mean I won't make it again, but it does let them feel like a contributor to the dinner menus.  It gives me an idea of what people think about it, and it makes people at my house more willing to try something new!  Does anyone else have any good "picky eater" tricks?

It's been a long time...

Well, as many of you know, my grandma is an AMAZING artist!  She used to teach art classes from her home to adults.  I and some of my siblings and cousins were fortunate to be able to take some classes from her while in high school.  These classes were not only very instructive, but also fun!  My grandma has such a fun sense of humor!  I remember one time one of the students (probably in her 40s or 50s) had some clay that was too hard to use yet, so through the night my grandma kept them under her armpits (rearranging every now and then) to warm them up a bit!  Another time it was a demonstration night and she was doing of portrait of my cousin and art partner :) Lisa.  My grandma can only stay serious for so long, so while she's doing this pastel painting she wanted to livin' things up a bit and started drawing a third eye on my cousins forehead (in the painting) everyone started laughing, and then my grandma realized that the paper she was using wasn't the normal type she used that was easy to erase, she was using valor instead (it's kind velvety like) so she couldn't erase it much.  (Everyone was dying by this point!)  So she decided to make it a windy day and swooshed some hair across her forehead to cover the third eye!  Looking at it now you could never tell!  The painting turned out beautiful!
Anyway, I decided to get some paints and try painting on my own... it's not quite as entertaining as with my grandma!  I was first inspired to start again because I want to paint a truck picture for Wesley's bedroom.  I've sketched out the picture on to a canvas my grandpa gave me awhile ago, but wanted to practice first on something else so this painting I did not come up with on my own, but it was in an art book I have.  Just a picture of a painting someone else did (not a step by step however).  Anyway, Scott took some pictures of me the other day while working on it.

The Most Comfortable Chair... maybe?

Well, Kamiah got her first sealants and a CAVITY filled this week!  It was very little, had just begun.  We noticed just before our dentist visit last week and they got her in this week.  We've heard several times from different dental people that Kamiah has deep grooves in her teeth, thus making her prone to cavities!  This is her second!  (Her first was about 3 1/2 yrs ago so at least we get a little break in between.)
Before we left to go to the dentist she asked, "Do you think I can get a prize again?!"  Since we had just gone last week and she got a prize.  "Um, yeah.  I'm pretty sure you will!" :)
We also got a new Dentist at our place we go to, there are now 3 dentists there... she works well with kids and is very nice (Oh yeah, and she seems to know what she's doing too!)  :)

Correction

~My mom called to let me know that, though she would love to take the credit... she didn't make the blanket (see the post below).  It was my grandma Jones!  Apparently the only serviving one she made for the Kent Jones family! ~
