It's been a long time...

Well, as many of you know, my grandma is an AMAZING artist!  She used to teach art classes from her home to adults.  I and some of my siblings and cousins were fortunate to be able to take some classes from her while in high school.  These classes were not only very instructive, but also fun!  My grandma has such a fun sense of humor!  I remember one time one of the students (probably in her 40s or 50s) had some clay that was too hard to use yet, so through the night my grandma kept them under her armpits (rearranging every now and then) to warm them up a bit!  Another time it was a demonstration night and she was doing of portrait of my cousin and art partner :) Lisa.  My grandma can only stay serious for so long, so while she's doing this pastel painting she wanted to livin' things up a bit and started drawing a third eye on my cousins forehead (in the painting) everyone started laughing, and then my grandma realized that the paper she was using wasn't the normal type she used that was easy to erase, she was using valor instead (it's kind velvety like) so she couldn't erase it much.  (Everyone was dying by this point!)  So she decided to make it a windy day and swooshed some hair across her forehead to cover the third eye!  Looking at it now you could never tell!  The painting turned out beautiful!
Anyway, I decided to get some paints and try painting on my own... it's not quite as entertaining as with my grandma!  I was first inspired to start again because I want to paint a truck picture for Wesley's bedroom.  I've sketched out the picture on to a canvas my grandpa gave me awhile ago, but wanted to practice first on something else so this painting I did not come up with on my own, but it was in an art book I have.  Just a picture of a painting someone else did (not a step by step however).  Anyway, Scott took some pictures of me the other day while working on it.

I think it is great that you are using some of that type of talent again. I bet your truck will be great! I never heard that story about the clay, either! LOL!

Hey, would you be willing to do a trade? A painting for some swimsuits for your girls?

We can talk later.

That's great! I was just telling Cory last night that I really missed painting and how relaxing it was. I even got some canvases the other day. I think I'll need to get my rusty brushes out and try my hand again. I'd love to see the finished product!
