We have started a new tradition at our house the kids love. Whenever I make a new meal, I set out a pair of green and red cards at everyone's place. We use them to vote. When you decide whether you like it or not, you place the appropriate color under your cup! Green= "go ahead and make this again!" Red="stop making this meal!" Anyway, the kids know that just because they vote red doesn't mean I won't make it again, but it does let them feel like a contributor to the dinner menus. It gives me an idea of what people think about it, and it makes people at my house more willing to try something new! Does anyone else have any good "picky eater" tricks?

Maddie has really been into things that make you "So Happy Now!" recently. So Nick started telling her, "If you take a Big bite of your sandwich, you'll be SO HAPPY!" and what do you know? It works! HA!
I like the red light green light thing!
That is a cute idea! I took a class last semester where we talked about this subject and there were some good ideas. I don't remember them all, but one was to give a different name to foods like calling broccoli, tree tops. Another idea was letting the kids help make the meal. One other one I can think of was to decorate the table all fun to go with the meal. If you have tried any of these let me know if they work! I have always been curious to know if these really do the trick
I don't really remember this problem when the kids were little. At this age, my kids are allowed ONE dislike. Yes, they are allowed to change their dislike, but when they make a change they have to keep it for 3 months. Brevin's is squash soup. Meg's is fresh tomatoes. (she'll eat them any other way) Spencer's is pickles and Ter's is watermelon. Brevin tried to change once, but decided it wasn't worth it. This makes meal prep very easy in my house.
Lauren cooks everything with me and I'm convinced it is one of the reasons why she eats it all.
