Well, last week Halle had dual ear tube surgery and had her adnoids removed. Kamiah's had surgery 3 times and Jameson once (so far). Anyway, I guess it was Halle's turn (Wesley feels a little left out that he didn't get all the fun drinks at home, and prizes from the surgery center, poor kid.)
I guess we're just one of those families, ear tube families -- I told the Dorctor it was Scott's fault, (Scott happened to be at that appointment, we were there for 2 hours that day I think. Everyone but Wesley and I needed something done) Our wonderful Doctor that we love said, "But he's a good guy {Scott}, so let's not make him feel bad." : )
This is Halle before Surgery showing off her prize, too busy watching tv to turn and look. It was nice to have the tv to distract her from being hungry since her surgery wasn't until 9:15am with no food since the night before.
Still watching...
Afterward, she woke up a little rough, they tried to put her back to sleep to see if she would wake up better, she resisted sleeping, but did calm down with the extra medicine. Later, she remembered that her ear had hurt and that's why she had been crying. She was pretty out of it.
Unfortunately they were quite busy that day, so we had to wait a lot longer then normal before leaving. (That sounds backwards, but it was because the nurse had so much to do she had a hard time getting all our leaving stuff done. We were there probably 1-2 hours longer than we needed.
Everyone was excited to see her at home, Jameson wanted to be right there with her, it was sweet. (normally we do promote wearing shirts at our house, he had just spilled on his shirt)
As the day went on her face seemed to swell a little and she developed red marks under her eyes and mouth (she didn't want this picture taken-hence the expression). The reddness got darker too
(this picture doesn't do justice). I called the nurse just to make sure everything was okay (her tongue was swollen too), they wanted me to page the doctor. Anyway, she was fine I think they must've had tape on her face around a mask and that's where the red came from. The doctor made me feel good though after I apologized for bugging him when he said, "I would always trust your judgement for concern." He's always telling us that we're a great family (he has 5 grown children of his own). That night we put zulu knots in her hair for fun. It makes cork screw curls for the next day. (This isn't my pic. but they're pretty perfect zulu knots!)
The next day Kamiah and I pampered her. I let her have a little bit of mascara on. (she was eating a sucker so her face is a little sticky)
And Kamiah painted her nails.

It's amazing how quickly kids rebound after surgery. The surgery is no fun, but the lack of ear problems is nice!
awww Halle! what a trooper! those pics are so cute.
i love you HalleGirl!
oh poor Halle! Hopefully she'll be feeling a lot better soon! I've never heard of Zolu knots before. But I love the curls it makes! So cute!
Poor little Halle! I'm glad she is doing better! (And I can't believe that's Jameson!!) :)
