Shabby Apple Dresses is having a design contest...I almost forgot to post this! (Because that's how you enter!) I don't claim to be an artist, just thought it'd be fun to try my hand at it!
This first one, I thought would be fun to be kind of light and flowing with a fitted bodice and an empire waist. Using the same kind of fabric, have a tie threaded through the neckline seam to cinch up the neckline a little and tie a bow at the back of the neck. A loop (not too big) below the tie, and an invisible zipper on the left side, under the arm. The sleeves would be loose and flowing, the hemline would come about and inch below the bottom part of the knee.
Colors: Denim Blue, and Slate Blue.
I would have to play with fabrics to find exactly what I think would work, some thoughts: Jersey knit or Twill.
This next one's proportions are off, but you get the idea. I thought a little country esque for this one (with my Montana roots!) Calling it Little Miss Buckaroo which is inspired from a song my mother-in-law sang to my husband growing up, and we now sing to our kids called "Little Buckaroo."
It would have the buttons from the top all the way to the hemline (sewn shut at then bottom to avoid unwanted openings!) lined on both sides with double folded seams followed by a ruffle. The sleeves would have a little puff to it, followed by a band and then a ruffled cuff. The dress would be made to wear with a belt, even come with one. The collar would be about 1" up, trimmed with a ruffle. The hemline would come about and inch below the bottom part of the knee.
Color ideas: Wild Rose (pale vintage pink color), Tumbleweed (cream/pale yellowish), Sagebrush (pale green).
Fabric type, again not certain, possibly a broadcloth, or cotton. I don't want it to be see through, but I still want it to be a light fabric. (You'll have to pardon my sketch)
